Poison Ivy DIY Costume Guide for Cosplay and Halloween
How to Dress Like Poison Ivy for Cosplay and Halloween [Photo: billybookcase]

Dr. Pamela Isley AKA Poison Ivy is an eco-friendly super-villain who loves the environment maybe a little too much. So much so that she’s pretty much ready to use her knowledge of plant toxins and brain-controlling botany to kill you if you pick that flower or cut down that tree. Teetering on the edge of love and hate, Batman tries to keep this red-haired, green-thumbed, vine-entangled seductress at bay.

Poison Ivy was once a hair-pinned-back, lab-coat wearing botanist, but that’s in the past… She traded all that in for a sexy, all-organic green one-piece complete with living, leafy vines. The green is contrasted with the bold and unapologetic red of her long, wavy hair and her lipstick (Watch out! One kiss from this lady and you’re dead.)

How to Dress Like Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy’s hair is bright, primary red and is long and wavy at the ends. A red wig purchased at a costume store or online would probably work best, but there is always hair dye for the mega-fan. Use bright red lipstick and also have some fun with some high-impact green eyeshadow.

Green Leotard and Tights:

You want green everything! A green leotard can most easily be found online, but depending on the season, a basic green one-piece swimsuit could also work. Tights can be found at a department store, but if you care about matching shades of green there might be more options online.

Glovelettes are basically long gloves that connect between the pointer finger and middle finger and go up to your elbow. For this costume you could buy some green glovelettes but some depictions of Poison Ivy show her with vines wrapped around her arms instead.

Green Boots:

Poison Ivy’s boots are long and high-heeled. If you want to add a little more pizazz to your costume, look for some sparkly ones! If you’re not wanting to buy a pair of green high-heeled boots that you’ll probably never wear again, consider stopping by a thrift store and spray-painting a pair.

Fake Vine Leaf Garland:

Your local craft store will probably have an aisle of fake flowers and plants. Look for green vines or strings of leaves to wrap around you legs, arms and torso to complete your look.
