How to Dress Like Spiderman Noir from Into the Spider-verse
Fedora, Mask & Goggles:
Spiderman Noir wears a black fedora because he’s a private eye, and this allows him to keep his eyes… private. Yours should be plastic so it doesn’t trap in heat on your head. Remember, Spiderman Noir never sweats. You can find this online or at any costume shop.
He wears a mask. Don’t we all? His happens to be a ski mask with eye holes. Get a lycra mask because you can breathe easier through it than spandex. You can find these online, in any costume shop, or at any ski- specific retailer.
Then, the silver and black aviator goggles, which he uses to hide his eyes in shame for all the violence that he’s done. You can find these online, or at a costume shop.
Turtleneck, Vest, and Trench Coat:
Spiderman Noir sports a black turtle- neck sweater, because the night is so… so cold. Make yours as thin as you can because you’re going to be wearing a lot of layers and it’s going to be hot. You can find these online, or at any major retailer. For best results (most breathability), look at sports retailers.
He wears a black double- breasted vest, because that’s what real men wear in 1933. Again, make sure yours is thin so that you don’t die of heat stroke. You can find vests like this online or at any costume shop.
He wears a trench coat which he wears open to flow in the wind which follows wherever he goes. And the wind… smells like rain. Even when he’s in a basement with no airflow. Again, do not get an actual trench coat. Get a thin costume- version so that you aren’t so hot in all these layers. Don’t die! Dooonnn’t Diiiiiieeee!!!! Gloves, Utility Belt and Pants:
Spiderman Noir wears leather gloves, because pleather hasn’t been invented yet. You, of course, can buy fabric gloves that look like they are leather. You can find these online or at a costume shop.
He wears a black belt with a pocket on it which is his utility belt. He utilizes it a lot. You can buy a black belt with fabric pockets on it online or in a costume shop and cut off all but one pocket on the left side. Or, you could make your own by attaching a fabric pocket to the left side of a regular black belt which you can find online or at any major retailer.
He also wears pants as black as his soul… You can find them online or at any major retailer.
Boots and Rubik’s Cube
Spiderman Noir wears captain boots, because only he can captain this ship we call New York to safe shores. It is his destiny. You can buy black captain boots online, at a costume shop, or at any major retailer. Or, you can get black rain boots, which look quite the same. You can get these online or at any major retailer, or any gardening- specific retailer.
He carries around a colorful Rubik’s cube, which he only sees in black and white and therefore can’t figure out. Just like life, he doesn’t know if it’s perfect, or all jumbled up. You can never be sure.
So, close off your feelings so that you won’t get crippled by the moral ambiguity of your violent actions. Are you going to fight, or are you just flappin’ your gums, ya hard- boiled turtle- slapper!!!
