White Hood:
Most of Altair’s face is obscured by a white hood. This hood has a bird-like triangular beak shape at the front edge hanging down over his eyes. Tuck your hair in under the hood, and use elastics or bobby pins to hold it in place beneath your costume. The hood drapes down and covers his shoulders.
Outfit:
Under the hood of Altair’s costume, he wears a long white long-sleeved robe-like coat over gray pants. His coat is held together with red fabric ties.
If you can’t find a pre-made Altair costume coat, you can use a long white overcoat with a hood. Pin the top of the coat shut before adding the red ties, which will keep it from flapping open while you walk.
Weapons & Accessories:
Altair has quite a few accessories. To start, he has brown leather gloves and matching knee-high boots. You can purchase leather boots from most retail websites and footwear stores.
Altair also carries a sword in a brown leather sheath at his side, he wears a thick brown leather belt buckle with notches to hold his assortment of weapons and he often carries a tiny silver dagger in his hand.
You can purchase fake toy weapons and holsters, sheaths and belts for them online from retail websites and toy stores.
Altair wears a silver cuff going from the length of his wrist to his elbow on one hand, built of jointed pieces. You can purchase a metal costume armor cuff online from costume shops and Halloween stores.
Bird:
For an extra piece to your costume, add a fake bird of prey to perch on the metal cuff on your arm. Altair is often depicted with a hawk, eagle or falcon sitting on his arm. He himself even has a sixth sense known as Eagle Vision!
You can purchase plastic toy birds or stuffed animals online for this effect. Search toy stores and retail websites for a good one, and use glue or string to hold the bird in place on your arm during your next cosplay event.
