How to Dress Like Sandy Cheeks from ‘Spongebob Squarepants’
Squirrel Style:
Sandy is an anthropomorphic squirrel with buck teeth, a pink nose and tan fur. She has long eyelashes and always shows a bright smile on her face. You can either buy a squirrel mask or use Halloween face paint to create Sandy’s iconic look for yourself.
For the buck teeth, you can easily find fake buck teeth at most Halloween stores or online.
Underwater Diving Suit:
Sandy is notable among fans for having two outfits – one is a ruffled purple bikini, but her most memorable outfit is her white underwater suit and clear plastic helmet which she wears pretty much all the time, allowing her to breathe underwater and interact with other citizens in the city of Bikini Bottom.
There’s a lot of room for creativity with this look. You can shop around on online websites for a full suit. Look for hazmat suits, astronaut costume suits or diver suits which can be modified to get the right look. Buy heavy boots or gray-colored rubber boots to go with it, and make sure whatever helmet you buy or make is breathable and not airtight so it won’t be a safety issue for you.
You can poke small holes in a thin but durable plastic costume helmet if you want. Sandy’s suit has a yellow acorn patch sewn on it – you can draw one and glue it onto your costume, sew it on using embroidery or purchase a Sandy patch online and sew or iron it in place.
Bushy Tail:
To complete your Sandy costume, you’ll need a large tan squirrel tail or other similar-looking tail. Make one using fake fur or purchase one from an online costume shop or party store. You can sew it onto the seat of your pants or tie a belt around your waist to hold it in place.
