Fred is a hard working bronto crane operator at Slate Rock and Gravel Company and a family man. He has a wife named Wilma and a daughter named Pebbles. Even though they live in prehistoric times, they don’t really live a prehistoric lifestyle. They have all the comforts of the modern age with a twist and a mid-century modern flare. 

Fred wears what is effectively a large orange muumuu speckled with black triangles, and a teal tie. There weren’t shoes back then, so his feet are bare and calloused. And that’s it! He’s a simpler man from simpler times.

How to Dress Like Fred Flintstone

Hair: 

Fred has short, black hair. You could easily recreate the look with your own hair, even if yours isn’t dark by using hair spray paint. If that’s not an option for you, you can definitely find a wig in a halloween store or online. 

Costume: 

Prefabricated versions of Fred’s smock are definitely available online, but it wouldn’t be difficult to make either. If you wanted to make it, just gather some orange fabric, seam it up the sides and top, cut out a hole for your head, chop the bottom up to make it look like it was cut with the teeth of a dinosaur. Sew or glue on a bunch of black fabric triangles, and you’re good to go! 

You’ll need a teal tie as well. Even Fred’s is comically large for him, so you could use a standard size tie, but making a comically large one out of felt or fabric would be a little more true to character.
