How to Dress Like Ragnar Lothbrok from ‘Vikings’
Hair:
Throughout the series, Ragnar has two main hairstyles – Young Ragnar and old Ragnar.
To be young Ragnar, you need to shave the sides of your head and braid the remaining hair at the top. You will need small clear hair ties to give it a clean look. You can use some black liner or black face paint to create those beautiful tattoos on his head.
To be old Ragnar, you must shave your head completely and draw on his distinctive tattoos.
Face:
Ragnar sports a full-faced blond and brown beard. You can replicate this look by purchasing a similar-looking fake beard, or if you are up to the challenge grow one out yourself. Add a touch of make up to give yourself a leathery, worn and battle-tested appearance.
Outfit:
You can easily replicate Ragnar Lothbrok’s attire with a few simple clothing items available online and at retail stores. Look for a short sleeve medieval tunic that goes midway to your thighs and a viking leather armor vest. If you can’t find it then you can use chainmail steel vest. Pair this up with dark brown medieval lace up pants. You can use some brown eye shadow over the clothes to give them that battle-worn look.
Boots:
Ragnar wears a pair of boots commonly used by vikings with intricate patterns. Purchase a pair of leather boots in a similar style.
Weapons:
Ragnar’s weapon of choice is his trusty battle axe. Get a prop axe and wind some string around the handle from top to bottom to give it that realistic look. Shop for a medieval shield to complete the set.
