Khal Drogo, leader of the Dothraki, is a perfect cosplay choice for fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones. As the ferocious warlord of the Dothraki, he is feared across the kingdoms. “The Great Khal”, as he was called, searched for the most beautiful woman in the lands to be his khaleesi and he eventually found one in Daenerys Targaryen.

According to lore, Dothraki have to cut their hair when they are defeated in battle and place bells in their hair after winning a battle. Khal Drogo, undefeated, has never cut his hair.
If you don’t already have naturally long hair, use a synthetic wig and use brown embroidery thread or elastic bands to recreate the look.
Drogo also has dark mustache and long beard tied into sections. Even if you do not have a long beard, you can also use a fake beard in a similar style.
Khal Drogo wears a high waisted belt made of leather and pieces of fabric which are cut into various shapes and sewn together.
Prepare a rough design of how the belt should look like. Draw the pieces on a newspaper and after tracing them on leather and fabrics, cut out the pieces. Use brown thread to sew them together.
The belt has 3 subsections, each containing a sun shaped pattern in the center. Mark the spots in a circular shape and make the holes.
After that, cut a very thin leather strip and weave it inside the holes to make the pattern of the sun. Use another leather strip to stitch the subsections. Attach leather pouches on to the belt to complete the look.
Drogo wears leather pants throughout the series. Pick up a pair of brown leather pants and draw some markings to make it look like the battle worn garment of the Dothraki warrior.
He wears leather gauntlets begin at the bottom of his fingers and ends just before his elbows. If you can’t find a pair of similar gauntlets, you can try your hand at crafting.
Cut a piece of leather shaped like a trapezoid and vertically glue leather strips on to it. Wrap some strings around it. Attach Velcro strips so that adjustments can be made while wearing the gauntlet to make them fit properly.
Drogo is often seen shirtless to show off his tribal tattoos. His entire torso is adorned with tattoos, including his shoulder, back and pectoral muscles. The tattoos represent the armor of a tribal warrior.
Use a reference photo and get help from a tattoo artist to draw temporary tattoos on your body. A shade of pale blue ink is the recommended color for Drogo’s tattoos.
For the makeup, use dark eye shadow to capture Drogo’s unique look.
