In The Purge 3: Election Year, “Uncle Sam” (an unnamed foreign murder tourist dressed up as the personification of the United States, played by actor Roman Blat) appears alongside Lady Liberty, George Washington and several other dressed-up tourists to participate in the Purge with an overzealous and strange affection for America.

Luckily for Uncle Sam’s two captured victims, they are able to escape him before he can seriously hurt them, but he’s a very menacing and spooky figure nonetheless.

This is a great costume choice for any horror film fan who wants to bring an extra spark of creepiness to their next convention.

How to Dress Like Uncle Sam from the Purge

Mask:

Uncle Sam wears a plastic mask of the patriotic personification, but the mask is altered strangely to have angular eyes, downward eyebrows and opaque black fabric framing the sides for a more spooky, haunting look. You can purchase Uncle Sam masks online from retail websites, Halloween stores and costume shops.

Outfit:

Uncle Sam wears a bloodstained suit consisting of a blue blazer with red and white stripes on the collar and cuffs, a white dress shirt and pants with vertical red and white stripes on them.

You can purchase similar clothing items individually from retail websites and shopping malls, or you can search for a pre-made Purge-themed Uncle Sam costume suit to wear instead. For the blood, purchase some fake costume blood from any Halloween store or party supply shop, or use red fabric paint.

Accessories:

Add the finishing touches to your Uncle Sam costume with some of his accessories, including his black shoes, his machine gun with the American flag painted on both sides and his white ruffled bow tie. You can buy black dress shoes at any shoe store and most retail websites.

For the machine gun, you can purchase cosplay prop replica guns and toy guns online from toy stores and retail websites, or you can customize one yourself using red, white and blue paint. Add some fake blood for a more authentic look. Check retail websites and wholesale websites to find a white ruffled bow tie just like Uncle Sam’s to add to your costume.

Lady Liberty:

Alongside Uncle Sam in The Purge 3, an unnamed young woman dressed up as New York City’s Statue of Liberty teams up with him and several other murder tourists to visit the United States to participate in the Purge. For a fun couple’s costume, get a friend to dress up as Lady Liberty to go alongside you to your upcoming party or cosplay convention.
