How to Dress Like Joel from The Last of Us

Head: 

Joel has brown hair, kind of brushed to the side and a beard. If you can’t grow a beard you can always use makeup and draw it on. 

Outfit:

Joel wears an earthy green flannel shirt rolled up to his elbows because he’s always ready to get his hands dirty. It probably came straight out of his closet the day this whole pandemic started, so consider checking yours for something like this before you go out and buy one.

He wears dark blue jeans and dark brown construction boots, all of which look grungy and dirty from all the sweating and running and killing. To get this effect you can literally go outside and rub dirt on your costume or just pretend he found a washing machine on the way and wear your clothes as they are. You can also purchase dirt makeup and smear it on your face and arms to get that dirty look, without being dirt-y. 

Backpack:

Joel’s backpack is cargo-style with lots of pockets. Any earth-toned backpack could work. You can put some of his survival gear inside, including a flashlight.

Watch:

Joel’s broken watch is the only sentimental thing he has left, so make sure to wear one. 

Gas Mask: 

Joel carries a gas mask that is clasped onto his belt loop. You can find a fake gas-mask online or if you know a “prepper” who really is ready for the apocalypse, you might ask them.
