Hair:
Hagrid has long, curly, black, and shaggy hair. Unless this is the look you sport on a daily basis, a wig is going to be your top choice for this cosplay.
Beard:
Hagrid’d most distinctive feature is his big, bushy beard. He just wouldn’t be the same without it! Again, unless you’ve been working on growing one for a long time, a fake beard will be your best option. These can be found in fancy dress retailers and online stores, so tracking one down shouldn’t be a problem.
Coat and Undergarments:
Hagrid normally wears a deep red shirt. These are a common find in thrift shops. Don’t worry if it’s a little oversized, this will only add to the overall aesthetic. If you have an old one lying around and it isn’t red, then any dark shade of shirt will do, or you can always use red dye to get some final use out of a shirt you no longer wear.
Additionally, you will need a brown waistcoat. Again, thrift shops are a great option here but you can always cut the sleeves off of an old blazer and hem the edges to create your own waistcoat design.
Finally, you’ll need a long brown coat. Down past the knees is ideal, but really the length can be as long as you want, as long as it’s not making you trip over of course! Trench coats work perfectly for this and won’t break your budget.
Pants:
Hagrid sure loves to wear brown and his pants are no exception. Any brown trousers will do, but corduroys or cargo style trousers arguably work the best. If you can find some with pockets then all the better, as Hagrid is the keeper of keys, he has a lot of pockets in his clothing!
Boots:
Any brown or black boots will do the trick really. Snow boots, walking boots and work boots all work well. You can find platform souled boots if you really want to stand tall as Hagrid but essentially the footwear is down to your preference. Hagrid sports a dark brown pair of shin high work style boots. Similar boots are pretty easy to find.
Accessories:
You can have fun with Hagrid’s accessories, but don’t forget about the belt. Under his coat but over his waistcoat Hagrid wears a black belt with a big silver clasp – a finishing touch to bring the ensemble together. You can of course add more, such as a big set of keys on a ring or carry a pink umbrella – always a nice touch! Or even add some spiders which Hagrid is quite fond of. If you really want, you can carry a plush toy representing any number of magical creatures from dragons to hippogriffs! Oh, and course you could take Fang, Hagrid’s loyal and loving oversized Neapolitan Mastiff.

I am what I am, an’ I’m not ashamed. ‘Never be ashamed,’ my ol’ dad used ter say, ‘there’s some who’ll hold it against you, but they’re not worth botherin’ with.’ An’ he was right.
