Bring the nightmare to your street this Halloween with a costume of one of the most iconic horror movie characters of the 80s, Freddy Kreuger. In this guide, I will show you how to turn into the nightmarish horror icon with some makeup tutorials and a few select clothing items and props.

Created by the Horror movie legend Wes Craven, Freddy Kreuger is a character that haunts the dreams of teenagers on Elm Street. He is known for his burned and scarred skin and wearing a red and dark green long sleeved shirt, a brown hat and of course his trademark knife glove.

This is one of my favorite costumes to wear when I want to really spook convention goers or Halloween party guests. Let’s get the nightmare started!

How to Dress Like Freddy Kreuger from Nightmare on Elm Street

Hat:

Kreuger is known for wearing an old black hat. Get an old hat at a vintage store to recreate this killer’s look.

Shirt:

If you have a red shirt at home, add the green stripes with fabric or an old shirt. User scissors to trim the ends of the sweater to create the torn look of the clothing.

Trousers:

He wears a pair of black pants that you should be able to find at any clothing store or vintage apparel shop.

Glove:

Use a brown winter glove and poke 4 wooden sticks through each finger. Then paint each stick with a silver color paint or spray paint.

Shoes:

A standard pair of black shoes will do for this costume. Get a comfortable pair of shoes so you can spend more time on the streets scaring unsuspecting people.

Makeup:
